The I Can Do ebook contains practical activities based on the world of the child, aimed at enhancing self esteem in 8 - 10 year olds.
These activities have several aims: to enhance self-esteem; to provide teachers with easy access to a series of reproducible enrichment activities for students to use in class or at home; to encourage students to learn about themselves, and to recognize their strengths and abilities; to allow students to focus on their uniqueness and to provide children with enjoyment and with opportunities to be creative.
We have concentrated on the world of the child in the home; the school; out in the world; outdoors; mind, body and heart; and supplementary games.
We hope that teachers will also enjoy learning about how their students see themselves, and will use the activities in the context of enhancing self esteem.

These activity pages have been designed to allow and encourage teachers to become totally involved with the teaching of creative thinking skills.
While there is no one accepted way of teaching ‘thinking’, we feel that in being provided with an organized and developmental outline of some of the sub-skills, teachers may more readily internalize these skills, allowing a smoother approach to teaching thinking within the classroom.
While most experts can never agree on a definition, they do agree that ‘thinking’ has a series of sub-skills. For the purpose of teaching them each of these skills can be treated in isolation. They include: fluency, flexibility, originality, elaboration, curiosity, complexity, risk taking and imagination.
Each of these sets contain a teachers' note and four timed word questions relating to one of the skills.

This e-book contains a buddy program for elementary aged students.
This program is quite structured in nature. Two classes are involved in the program - an older and younger class (e.g. Grade 5 with a Grade 1 class). Each child is given a partner or a buddy by the class teachers. These pairings are decided upon by both teachers after considering the special needs and capabilities of each child. The same partners are kept for the whole year so that a strong bond develops between the two students.
These activities enable children to learn from each other in a caring and friendly environment; develop academic, social and personal skills; display an awareness and a need to care for others; develop the skills of responsibility, understanding and tolerance; assist the younger students with their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills; display a greater awareness of the world around them; and develop an awareness of the concept and value of friendship.
